Bio

Dr. Naw Aye Myat Maw is a General Practice Registrar with a diverse clinical background spanning nearly seven years of medical experience, including over two years of practice within the Australian healthcare system. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Medicine 2, Yangon, in 2019 and obtained her Australian Medical Council (AMC) Certificate in 2023.

Dr. Maw was recently undertaking her General Practice training at Scone Medical Practice and Family Medical Centre of Murrurundi. Prior to commencing GP training, she worked as a Resident Medical Officer at Townsville University Hospital and Mackay Base Hospital, gaining broad experience across emergency medicine, general medicine, geriatrics, and a range of specialist outpatient services.

Although she initially planned to pursue Physician Training, Dr. Maw chose General Practice because it aligns with her passion for delivering continuity of care, managing chronic diseases, promoting preventive health, and developing long-term therapeutic relationships with patients. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred care tailored to individuals and families at every stage of life.

Before moving to Australia, Dr. Maw worked in tertiary hospitals and emergency departments in Myanmar and participated in community health initiatives, including public health programs and rural outreach services. These experiences strengthened her adaptability, clinical skills, and commitment to delivering quality healthcare across diverse clinical and cultural settings.

Community service has always been central to Dr. Maw’s professional journey. She has been actively involved in medical and non-medical volunteer work, supporting underserved communities through rural health outreach, rehabilitation programs, and public health initiatives. She believes General Practice provides the ideal opportunity to combine high-quality clinical care with meaningful community engagement.

Dr. Maw has a particular interest in chronic disease management, preventive medicine, adult and geriatric health, and emergency medicine. She is passionate about lifelong learning, continuous professional development, and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients.
